What do you think about while you’re dancing? A dancer and a visually impaired young man, a novice to the stage, meet in a square taped to the floor.
They try to answer the question telling fragments of their life stories; their movements become increasingly uncomfortable, interrupted by exercises inspired by Aldous Huxley’s “The Art of Seeing” as attempts to change perspective and break free from the stillness of how they look at things and themselves.
They share memories, spoken words are sometimes misinterpreted, their movements blend, becoming more and more familiar as they create new imaginaries together.
Paso Doble experiments the layers between words and movement, gaze and description, in a pas de deux exploring the subjectivity of how we move and how we can enter each other’s worlds, sometimes losing ourselves in new realities.
