Roberta Maimone

Roberta Maimone

When I create, I aim to evoke the vivid emotions of a memory. I am fascinated by how the body and movement transform through this process.
Roberta Maimone is an Italian choreographer and dancer based in the Netherlands. During her training, she had the opportunity to work with notable artists such as Marcos Morau, Lukas Timulak, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Thomas Noone, Didi Veldman, Carolina Mancuso, Keren Rosenberg.
These encounters allowed her to experiment and develop her own approach. After her successful debut with ENFANTS, a collaborative project with Roberta Riontino, which was performed in Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany, she decided to further pursue her artistic development and establish the MEMIC project. In her creation ALEX, selected for Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra 2023,  a distinct humorous approach and the exploration of introspective themes are prominent. The incorporation of cartoon characters involves a movement language infused with strong elements of mimicry. The musical component also plays a significant role, with composer Clara Cozzolino supporting the creative process and contributing to the defining style.
Roberta possesses a clear vision of what she aims to bring to life in the tangible world as she transitions from the intangible to the visible.
