Emanuele Rosa (1989) was born in Genoa, Italy. He started his career at a young age, dancing professionally for several international companies, among others: Junior Balletto di Toscana (IT), Imperfect Dancers Company (IT), Landestheater Linz (AT), Staatstheater Darmstadt (DE), Hessisches Staatsballett (DE), Skånes Dansteater (SE), CCN Rillieaux-la-Pape/Yuval Pick (FR). In 2017 he started freelancing and worked for companies, such as: Arno Schuitemakers (NL), Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni (IT), Tanztheater Erfurt (DE), R14/ JulienGrosvalet (FR) and C&C Company (IT). Emanuele works with choreographers, such as Cristal Pyte, Richard Siegal, Alexander Ekman, Itzik Galili, Marco Goecke, Yuval Pick, Claude Brumachone, Tim Plegge, Marguerite Donlon, Ben Wright, Mei Hong Lin, Robert North, Emanuele Soavi, Cristina Rizzo, Ester Ambrosino and others.
As choreographer Emanuele creates: all you need is (2022), selected at Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore 2022, HOW TO _ just another Boléro (2021), selected at Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore 2021, Meat Me (2019) and As if, I have missed myself (2020), a Bora Bora – Dans og visuelt teater co production, with the choreographer Fabio Liberti, Ribelle (2019), Il Piccolo Principe (2020) and Alice nel paese delle meraviglie (2022) for Agora Coaching Project (Italy) with Carlo Massari. As associate artist of C&C Company, Emanuele collaborates on the choreographic creations of RIGHT (2021) and Incipit (2021), directed by Carlo Massari. Among his earliest works, Hell Sweet Hell (2018) has been selected among the finalists of Premio Equilibrio Roma 2018.
Emanuele gives professional classes and workshops in Italy and Europe, among others: CCNR/Yuval Pick (FR), Black Box Dance Company (DK), Opus Ballet (IT), Art Factory International (IT), Agora Coaching Project (IT), Anfibia (IT), MOVEMENT – Koinè Danza (IT) and the International Festival IFMC Vitebsk (BL) where is also invited as a member of the jury in the XXXII edition of the competition (November 2019).
Maria Focaraccio (1992) studied at the school of Balletto di Toscana, Firenze (IT). She deepened her training by taking part in 2010 in Agora Coaching Project, directed by Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli. From 2011 to 2015 she worked with the Imperfect Dancers Company, directed by Walter Matteini and Ina Broeckx. Since 2015 she has been living in Berlin, where she works as a freelance dancer and choreographer. In 2017 she has been selected for Smash #10, an intensive training in experimental performance, during which she has the opportunity to work with Alessio Castellacci, Maria F. Scaroni, Anna Novicka and Sonja Pregrad.
In 2018 she danced for Hell Sweet Hell, choreographed by Emanuele Rosa and selected as a finalist for Premio Equilibrio. Since 2018 she collaborates with the choreographer MariaGiulia Serantoni, performing in several of her productions including Eutropia (presented in 2019 in the frame of the MilanOltre festival and finalist of Premio Equilibrio 2018) and Underground Memoirs (presented in the frame of Romaeuropa Festival 2019). She also collaborates with MariaGiulia as a co-author: the performances Short Stories – nothing too intimate (selected at the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore 2019) and Dia – Rhythmic fantasies (presented in the frame of the festival La Democrazia del Corpo at Cango Cantieri Goldonetta) are the results of the four-handed work. In 2021 Maria worked with the choreographer Carlo Massari for the performance Incipit.
In Germany she takes part in various productions of Tanztheater Erfurt, directed by Ester Ambrosino, including: The Fairy Queen (2019), Magnificat (2022) and Novecento – Die Legende vom Ozeanpianisten (2022).From 2020, together with Emanuele Rosa, she creates HOW TO _ just another Boléro (2021), selected at the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra 2021 and all you need is, selected at Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra 2022.
After graduating in Philosophy at the University of Pisa, Maria is currently studying Tanzwissenschaft (Dance Sciences) at the Freie Universität in Berlin. During the Valeska Gert Guest Professorship organized by the Freie Universität, she had the opportunity to work with the Belgian choreographer Michael Laub and the Japanese director Toshiki Okada.
