A dancing body has the ability to become a rebellious element against a radical political system.
Eternal focuses on the body during the Arab Spring, a political movement that opposes existing social and political systems in the Middle East and North Africa. During protests, symbolic gestures are generated, dance movements that have an unconscious powerful influence on individuals present in the uprising. Rhythmic synchronized movements created against the opposing authority.
What if these gestures are abstracted from their context? What is their relation with the music, the cheers, and the revolutionary chants?
In the performance, Bassam discusses the relationship he has with his “Big Brother”’ and presents rebellious dance sequences he created to stand against his brother’s authority.
