Sara Sguotti

Sara Sguotti is an Italian artist interested in the individual and collective body. She is drawn to all forms of micro-collectivity and passionate about entangled thoughts. Her choreographic practice ranges from research in solitary and intimate spaces to imaginative elsewhere.  
She works and collaborates with and for: Compagnia Virgilio Sieni; Compagnia Anton Lachky; Damien Jalet as a dancer, actress, movement creator, and movement coach in the film Suspiria directed by Luca Guadagnino; Roberto Magro for contemporary circus creations, focusing on movement research for the circus universities Codarts, Esac, and Flic; Simona Bertozzi; Cristina Kristal Rizzo; Nicola Simone Cisternino; Tommaso Serratore; Company Blu; Attivisti della Danza, with whom she founded the project Dance for Dance; Jacopo Jenna; Annamaria Ajmone and Silvia Gribaudi.
Her personal artistic research began with S.solo (winner of DNA Appunti Coreografici and the Anticorpi Showcase in 2017). Her other works include S.rituale, It’s Hard To Be Human, and DEDICA, CREPA.
She collaborates as a choreographer with the Dance Well community, creating HOP and later becoming one of its teachers. She also frequently collaborates with the IIC on projects and residencies hosted by international centers.
In 2024, she won the Ubu Award for Best Actress and Performer Under 35.
From 2025, she is associate artist at the National Dance Production Centre Cango and she started her curatorial and programming activities for her project “Scuderie dell’Arte”, a place dedicated to research on the intelligence of the body.
