Alessandro Giaquinto is an Italian freelance choreographer, performer and writer based in Stuttgart, Germany.
A graduate of the John Cranko School and a former demi-soloist with the Stuttgart Ballet, he began his career as a choreographer within the company before expanding his work across Europe, ranging from theatrical productions to site-specific performances and interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly with the visual artist Chiara Bugatti. Performed internationally across Asia, Europe and North America, Giaquinto’s works have been commissioned by, amongst others, the Stuttgart Ballet, the Croatian National Ballet in Zagreb, the John Cranko School, the Literaturarchiv Marbach and Films.Dance. It was from his collaboration with the latter that the multi-award-winning short film Do Butterflies Remember Being Caterpillars? emerged.
In 2023 his work ASCARESA was named Best Premiere of the 22/23 season by Alison Kent of DanceEurope.
In 2025, Giaquinto was awarded the International City of Foligno Prize and the Danza&Danza Prize as an emerging artist and creator in Italy and abroad.
Since September 2024, he is an active member of the Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance.
As a writer he has published the novel La forza di chi non è solo (2021) and the poetry collection Distillato d’abbandono (2024), as well as essays for the magazines Tanz and The Thought.
