Jumana Dabis is a choreographer, dancer, educator, and communications officer whose life and work are deeply shaped by her experiences as a mother, earth-lover, and cancer survivor.
Having dedicated herself to dance since the age of seven, she pursued extensive training through international programs such as Ponderosa (Stolzenhagen), Takween (Beirut), and Dance Web (Vienna), culminating in a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Dance Performance from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
Her choreographic journey began in 2003, leading to the presentation of numerous works across the United States, Germany, Ireland, Lebanon, Palestine, and Norway. In addition to her dance practice, she is an experienced Yoga instructor certified by Yoga Alliance.
Central to her mission is the mainstreaming of art in Palestine and finding innovative ways to use creative expression to restore humanity to the world. She is a firm believer in the power of art to channel messages, convey complex emotions, and drive slow, steady social change. For her, art is a vital tool for healing and inspiration.
Operating in a challenging cultural landscape, she consistently fights against local taboos surrounding dance, pushing to keep the discipline alive in local events and everyday life despite ongoing, daily oppressions. Ultimately, she utilizes art to transform intimate, personal experiences into a shared collective connection and, above all, as a way to feel alive.
