One simple action-a minimal unit that defines a state. Swinging is like saying no no no is a performance that disarticulates the body by triggering a tension between the swinging, insistent movement of the head and the slow, measured movement of the rest of the body. In a minimal and dilated advance, the action takes on the features of a dance-sculpture that explores a body stretched between development and obstacle, process and interlocking, evolution and involution.
The performance activates a jammed mechanism that disarticulates the body and sabotages its unity: splitting itself, the body thus seems to respond to two different centres of control. While the head engages in continuous machinic oscillations, the rest of the body slowly positions and repositions itself between comfort and discomfort. Defining a dynamic of repetition compulsion, the work gradually accumulates an energy that heralds a potential explosion.
