Roberto Tedesco

Roberto Tedesco, born in 1992, began his dance studies at the age of eleven in Calabria, Italy. In 2009 he joined the Balletto di Toscana School, dancing immediately for the Junior Bdt youth company. In 2011 he joined Aterballetto where he remained for ten years, years in which he had the opportunity to work with great choreographers of the national and international scene including Ohad Naharin, Jiri Kylian, Hofesh Shecter, William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Mauro Bigonzetti, Michele Di Stefano.
Still a dancer with Aterballetto, he began choreographing and participated twice in the International Choreographic Competition in Hannover, winning the critics’ prize. For Aterballetto he creates Cemento for the project In/Finito and Turn the tide for the project MicroDanze. Since July 2021, when his last season with the company ended, he decides to focus more on choreographic research so he begins a path as a freelance artist. He is selected for the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore with the duet Punch 24. The same duet is rearranged for six dancers of the MMcontemporarydancecompany taking the name Round Trip. In Germany he stages the duet Line-up at the National Theater Mannheim, creates By the throat for Ballett Vorpormmern and he is selected for the project Think Big at the Staatsoper Hannover where he creates Superorganismo, a piece for eight dancers. He accedes to ResiDance, action of the Network Anticorpi XL through which, thanks to a path of residencies at Oriente Occidente, Claps and Santarcangelo dei Teatri, he starts working on the project Decisione consapevole. With the latter he is one of the finalists of DNA appunti coreografici 2022 and in 2023 he accesses the NID’ s Open Studios in Cagliari.
Accessing the action supportER of the Network Anticorpi Emilia Romagna, through a path of residencies at Scenario Pubblico, Municipal Theater of Ferrara and Municipal Theater of Vicenza, he creates the duet Simbiosi with which for the second time he is selected for the Vetrina giovane danza d’autore eXtra.
The Municipal Theater of Vicenza nominates Roberto Artista in rete, meaning artist supported for the 2023 edition of the Festival Danza In Rete.
He creates Standpoints for the new production Callas Callas Callas by the company Opus Ballet. In Reggio Emilia, where he lives, he collaborates closely with Laura Matano, director of XLdancecompany and StudioXL for whom he choreographed Ad Eva and Memory Lab and Àmor, an urban performance conceived within Fotografia Europea Circuito Off.
