SEX.EXE aims to create a symbolic dimension through the construction of archetypal images – combining dance, visual art, language, and technology – to raise questions and reflections around the themes of body objectification and the affirmation of identity.
We begin with a choreographic investigation into the attempt to break free from a fixed image imposed from the outside – of what a body should or should not represent, or be representative of. For centuries, the visual depiction of nudity, as well as the free expression of the body, has been subject to manipulation, censorship, and precise dictates on what is considered legitimate to show. The semantics of representation have rarely been in the hands of the body itself; self-affirmation and self-determination in how to represent oneself have always clashed with the veto of the external gaze and a binary, heteronormative censorship – both chaste and punitive.
The iconographic research at the core of the movement’s construction traces a genuine history of humanity – from the earliest depictions and the first attempts to represent the human form, to the proposal of a new perspective. The body is no longer flattened, censored, defined, or boxed in. Instead, it manages to explode in its complexity, multiplicity, and expressive freedom -beyond fixed definitions and, in some way, even beyond identity understood as a cage.
SEX.EXE therefore does not seek merely to replicate stereotypes perpetuated by centuries of distorted narratives, but rather proposes alternatives of representation through a renewed vision of the body – beyond gender binarism, beyond roles, and beyond convention.
