Danilo Smedile trained as a dancer at the MoDem course of Compagnia Zappalà Danza, Specific to Loris Petrillo and La Biennale di Venezia – College Danza 2017, focused on the study of the Forsythe method and body awareness, with Judith Koltai (Authentic Movement), Tom Koch (Alexander Technique), Benoît Lachambre (choreographer). He enriches his vocabulary with photography, martial arts, vertical dance and urban.
He works with directors and companies such as Micha Van Hoecke, Fabrizio Favale – Le Supplici, Artemis Danza, Giuseppe Muscarello. From 2020 he begins his path as an author that will lead him to create InContro, RADICI – video installation and Idrolisi – first study. As an author, he participates in 2023 in the project I Corpi e le Voci della Danza by Cronopios Eventi, L’arboreto – Teatro Dimora and Cantieri Danza, in the 2022 edition of Nuove Traiettorie – action Network Anticorpi XL and in the course Next Generation Choreographers – Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto. In 2022 he created Rosso produced by Vento di Scirocco and co-produced by ArtGarage, a performance selected for the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore eXtra 2023 – Network Anticorpi XL. He is currently working on the project Rosso | ACT of Survival a finalist for the Prize Theodor Rawyler 2023.
