A cube has landed in the city! A joyful device, an activator of gazes, movements, and markers. It invites exploration. Its transparent walls welcome all the smiles and bodies that can be drawn.
Al Cubo is a game of crossings: of spaces, presences, and distances. A semi-permeable structure. The audience is free to move anywhere. A dancer inhabits the space, crossing through the device. A drawer traces on the transparent walls the marks of all these activities and inactivities. A musician builds the sonic score in relation to everything happening around.
People gradually become familiar with the installation and are encouraged to take part. Markers circulate, passing from hand to hand: drawing is done, discoveries are made through the surfaces, each engaged in their own explorations, each part of the collective action. Signs and gestures reverberate in music. The event finally dissolves. The sound fades away. Murmurs, words, smiles, children running through the space.
Al Cubo is a step in our research towards the zero degree of drawing and scenic action: rediscovering the wonder experienced in tracing the mark of things, and in experiencing them.
