“It is always very complicated to know where you are. It’s always very complicated to protect innocence enough to keep one’s eyes open to everything, one’s soul wide open to everything.”
Ettore Sottsass. There is a Planet
A single body centralizes the gazes, but leads them to observe the surroundings.
The material is dense and strong, but also delicate and fragmented.
Sound becomes an environment, but defines its spaces.
The voice emerges, but fades slowly.
One body, but many lives.
A creation inspired by the homonymous exhibition of photographs taken by the architect Sottsass. Images taken in forty years of travel around the world, presented at the Triennale Milano between 2017 and 2018, which concern living and the presence of man on our planet in general.
There is a Planet is a choreographic research on the uniqueness of places, which distances itself from the canonical spatiality of the theater hall, to investigate the body in spaces.
A body that abandons itself, that observes, that includes, that communicates.
Return humanity to the world.
There is a Planet as ours is one and only one planet.
