The Heroides are a collection of letters written by Ovid between 15 BC and 5 AD. Twenty-one heroines of classical myth write, with anger, resignation, sweetness or sorrow, to their beloveds who, for one reason or another, have abandoned them. In the cumbersome and icy absence of the addressee, each letter is an expression of the struggle of these women, placed before a fate that is fulfilled in spite of themselves.
Adopting the Ovidian model, Massimo Monticelli composes his own danced heroid. Traversing a fragment of life, this letter becomes an opportunity to recount absence, suspend time, attempt an impossible encounter and finally question, alone, who one is and what remains.
