Pablo Ezequiel Rizzo/Voluptas

Voluptas is a group dedicated to free experimentation between body, dance, visual art, and technology. It originated within the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi in Milan and was born as a manifesto for a body-centered research practice, deeply rooted in transfeminist and queer principles, with the aim of resemantizing the very meaning of the word “human.”
Starting from personal and sensory experiences, our work seeks to cultivate sensitivity toward alternative, imperfect bodies – bodies far removed from the objectification imposed by the binary social system. In doing so, we question dominant narratives and embrace a fluid and inclusive vision of corporeality.
Inspired by Donna Haraway, we strive to abandon the cyclopean, totalizing gaze of patriarchal reason, and to activate a wide, open-ended dialogue that moves from the “reflection of ideas” to the “diffraction of ideas.” This shift allows us to explore new forms of knowledge and perception, breaking through the rigid frameworks of linear thinking and welcoming multiplicity, complexity, and intersectionality in our artistic practice.
Pablo Ezequiel Rizzo is an Italian-Argentine choreographer and performer graduated at Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi in Milan. His research focuses on the intersection of body, technology, and philosophy, exploring how movement can interact with digital visual systems and concepts of identity.
In 2021, he founded the research group Voluptas.
