CollettivO CineticO is an experimental performing arts group founded in 2007 by the choreographer Francesca Pennini. Their work crosses genders and codes reformatting the rules of the performative event, challenging the relationship with the spectator with a rigorous yet ironic approach and shifting in the interstices between dance, theatre and visual arts. They developed devices and didactics for a broad
range of bodies and spaces, from the theater stage to urban complexity, from mimetic missions in daily life to virtual spaces.
Until now the group created 60 productions, winning many awards: Giovani Danz’Autori Prize 2008; Rete Critica Award as Best Italian Artist 2014; Jurislav Korenić Award as Best Young Theatre Director 2014; Danza & Danza Prize as Best Choreographer and Interpreter 2015; UBU nomination as Best Interpreter Under 35; MESS Prize 2016 at BE Festival – Birmingham; Hystrio Iceberg Award 2016; Prize of the National Association of Critics ANCT 2016, UBU Award for best dance piece of 2017 with Sylphidarium – Maria Taglioni on the Ground, also finalist for the original music by Francesco Antonioni and winner of the Grand-Prix Golden Laurel Wreath Award for Best Performance at 58°th International Festival MESS of Sarajevo.
CollettivO CineticO is member of the international project Crossing the sea.
Their work has been presented in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan and live streaming in US and Korea.
Francesca Pennini (Ferrara, 1984) starts off as a gymnast and then devoted herself to contemporary dance. She studied at Balletto di Toscana, Laban Centre in London and she explored a broad range of disciplines: from butoh to free diving, from martial arts to disco-dance competitions. She worked as a freelance dancer for Sasha Waltz & Guests.
In 2007 she founds the company CollettivO CineticO as a flexible net of artists: more than 50 members from different disciplines focusing on movement and keeping the structure of the company itself in constant dynamic. Her work crosses genders and codes reformatting the rules of the performative event, challenging the relationship with the spectator, meeting different kinds of bodies and spaces with a rigorous yet ironic approach. She gives lectures and seminars in museums and arts centers (Biennale College Danza in Venice, MAXXI Museum in Rome, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, Academy of Fine Arts of Milan…) and she is a professor of “Theatre and performing arts” at IUAV University in Venice.
She developed devices and didactic methodologies for a peculiar choreographic approach also with non professionals.
In 2007 she founded CollettivO CineticO with which she has signed 56 productions till now. She took part of european projects such as Choreoroam 2009, SNDO Amsterdam 2010 and she created a Bolero for Balletto di Roma company in 2017.
