Nunzia Picciallo is a multidisciplinary artist born in Italy. Her creations span between dance, performance, visual art and abstract painting. Performer and creator, Nunzia is also a certified Gaga teacher.
A fundamental element of Nunzia’s work is intuition which serves as a creative spark in approaching a new project. Often very intimate and emotional, the creative process, like the performance itself, is an adaptive and continuous research that she experiences through different media.
After graduating at Dance Arts Faculty in Rome, she moved to Israel where she lived from 2015 to 2021 and continued her studies with Batsheva Dance Company Excellence Program, to than graduate at Danceworkshop Ga’aton and take part in La Collectiz.
During those years, Nunzia has worked as a freelance dancer/performer for several artists such as Lilach Livne, Omer Krieger, Alex Mitutziu, Penthouss, Tami dance company, Edo Ceder, Francesca Fini, YY live art, Dana Hafouta, Import Dance and performed works by Shahar Binyamini, Idan Sharabi, Roni Chadash, Osnal Kelner, Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof, amongst others.
Starting from 2019, Nunzia’s creations have been presented and performed in spaces of different nature including 1:1 Center for Art and Politics, Arab-Hebrew Theater, Shek A Break Festival, Beit Tami, Hagra Cultural Center (Israel – Palestine), Arte al Parque (Panama), Copelouzos Art Museum (Greece), Artist Commons (Belgium), Officine Culturali, Santomasi Foundation, Roman Appia Antica quarry, Bari International Gender Festival, Atelier Montez, Marconi Arts Festival, Effetto 48, Ammutinamenti Festival (Italy), Mobile Dance Film Festival (New York), Digital Show by Cinematica Festival, Mystery Artroom, Metamorfosise, and Artsite Fest.
Nunzia’s abstract paintings have been presented in solo exhibitions at Hagra cultural center (Israel), Spazio Michela Santoro, and in group exhibitions at the Foundation E.P. Santomasi, Atelier Montez (Italy), Copelouzos Family Art Museum (Greece). She is the winner of Circle Contemporary dance contest 2021.
At the moment, she is based in Rome where she keeps creating and teaching gaga classes, improvisation and movement lab.
